Fresh or Artificial Flowers? Choosing Florals for Your Wedding Décor

Florals are often the largest single element of wedding décor, so the choice between fresh and artificial flowers matters. Both have a place, and many celebrations use a mix of the two.

The case for fresh flowers

Nothing quite replaces the scent and natural movement of fresh flowers. They are perfect for bridal bouquets, garlands that guests will see up close and smaller arrangements where texture really shows. They are, however, seasonal, sensitive to heat and dependent on supply, so exact shades and sizes can vary from what you have seen in a photograph.

The case for artificial florals

High-quality artificial flowers are now very convincing, particularly in large installations such as flower walls, mandap canopies, stage garlands and tall centrepieces. They hold their shape through a long day under warm lighting, they allow exact colour matching, and they make dramatic designs achievable that would be impractical with fresh stems.

A practical way to decide

  • Use fresh flowers where guests will see and touch them up close.
  • Use artificial florals for large structures, overhead installations and long events.
  • Ask to see a sample or mock-up so you can judge the quality for yourself.
  • Allow plenty of notice for fresh-floral mock-ups, as they depend on seasonal supply.

Whichever you choose, what matters most is that the florals feel part of the whole design. We are always happy to talk through the options.
