Before the ceremony begins, guests spend time sitting and looking towards the front of the room. The aisle leads their eye there. Dressed well, it turns a row of chairs into a ceremony space and frames the entrance that everyone is waiting for.
Lead the eye to the mandap or altar
The aisle and the ceremony structure should feel like one design. Pedestals, pillars or floral arrangements that echo the mandap or altar create a sense of procession, drawing guests' attention forward.
Aisle ideas
- Floral pedestals or urns at intervals along the aisle.
- Carved pillars, with or without statues, for a traditional ceremony.
- Lanterns and pillar candles for warmth, especially in the evening.
- A clean ivory aisle runner to frame the walk and photograph beautifully.
- Hanging elements such as bells, florals or fairy lights overhead.
Keep it practical
The aisle needs to be wide enough for the bridal party and any lehenga or train, with nothing that can be knocked over. Check with your venue about naked flames and fixings. If the room is turned around for the reception, choose aisle pieces that can be moved and reused elsewhere.
If you are planning your ceremony décor, we would be happy to talk it through with you.
